If you study JK's setup the of the Harry Potter series (which she considers one HUGE book) you will see that she follows the "Journey of the Hero" pretty closely. Think about it -
Set up & inital development - Harry living with the Dursley's - think back to book 1!
Destiny's Herald appears in the form of Hagrid on 7/31/91 & Harry is called to adventure with the arrival of his Hogwart's invitation to study. His adventure begins on 9/1/91 upon the Hogwart's Express; once Harry steps aboard then he has past the point of no return in his Hero's Journey. The prophecy must be played out to its conclusion by the end of book 7.
Along the way Harry will pick up hero partners - Ron & Hermonine - turn to page 651 in HBP - "We'll be there, Harry," said Ron. "And then we'll go with you wherever you're going." He will also have guides place around him -parents, Hagrid, Dumbledore, Sirrius, Lupin, Mr & Mrs Weasley, McGonnagall, etc. But there will also be Thersehold guardians trying to block his journey - Voldermort, Death Eaters, Malfoys. Threshold guardians also have junior shadows helping - Crabbe & Goyle helping Malfoy. There are also shapeshifters who change with the need arises - Peter Pettigrew, Quirrell and this is where I would place Snape.
Once his journey begins then he must go Into the Labyrinth -
Book 1 - Room of Requirement - Mirror of Erised (Desire)
Book 2 - Below Monaing Myrtle's bathroom into Chamber of Secrets
Book 3 - Time turner
Book 4 - Graveyard
Book 5 - Ministry of Magic
Book 6 - The Cave
We even get the princess rescue multiply times
Book 1 - Hermoine & the troll
Book 2 - Ginny & Chamber of Secrets
Book 3 - Buckbeat & Sirrius
Book 4 - Cedric
Book 5 -
Book 6 - Dumbledore
We have just the final parts of the Journey of the Hero left for book 7 -
Path of Atonement - the father quest - & we know that Harry has been searching for this all his life!
Heart of Darkness - Hero must enter "Heart of Darkness" fortes of evil itself & destroy its stronghold
Final victory & finally the journey of our hero comes to a close.
My final thoughts on this good always triumphs over evil. ALWAYS!

I mean it was mean enough for her to take Dumbledore away from us and it would be worse for her to take Ron or even Hermoine next... but to take Harry.. Let's get real people... that would be just plain MEAN!!!... Also I would like to raise another question....
Rowling said she hates to end the series but she knows it's going to and she's been ready for even though it's still going to be a shock when it does but the whole point of her writing 7 books in the first place is b/c you attend Hogwarts 7 years. Well if she doesn't reopen Hogwarts in the 7th bk (and even if she does Harry won't be attending) then could she possibly be setting up for a longer bk series? She might not write an 8th bk immediatly but when her family settles and grows old enough to take care of themselves I think she could possibly be making it so that she can flow right into it from bk 7.

I sincerely think that she is going to stop after book 7 & all loose ends will be wrapped up. But I think as for something that was stated in book 1 -Frienze states the innocent die first. Remember we thought he was referring to the unicorn at the time but look at to core material of Cedric's wand - and he died. Any guesses who else has unicorn in his wand? You guessed it -Ron! Just something to keep in the back of your mind for book 7. Ron has already told Harry that wherever he goes on his journey - he and Hermoine will follow. While Harry has lost all his guides so far in this journey - he has not lost his hero-partners. I really do think that good will triumph over evil by the end of book 7 but that does not mean that Harry will not be hurt or die also by the end - sadly to say.

I wasn't implying that all loose ends wouldn't be wrapped up, I was just say that she might do something with after a while... I mean maybe even like 10 years or so... all i'm stating is that the purpose of having 7 bks is being defeated if Harry drops out of school or if Hogwarts doesn't open in the 7th bk...
Also about the Ron thing I have a feeling he will die too. Next bk would have to be a character bigger than Dumbledore (meaning closer to Harry for those of u who don't agree Ron is a bigger character) and I don't foresee Hermoine dying. Also Firenze can see the future and danger ( as we learned in the 5th book). So I agree with that conclusion...
