alright...so, apparently in book 7 we're gunna hear something HUGE about lily. i have no idea what it is, but i have a question that could possibly be part of it. I forget which book it was (i think #1 or #4), but Voldemort told Harry that he didn't have to kill Lily, she chose to die by sacrificing herself for harry. anyways, let's face it, voldemort doesn't think muggleborns are worthy, so why on earth would he be willing to save lily?

let me know your thoughts!

It was book one when he told Harry that Lily didn't need to die. And in book three, we heard through Harry's memories that not only did Voldemort not have to kill Lily, but he actually seemed to be trying to save her by telling her just to move away. By giving her a chance to flee and move on, Voldemort was showing that he didn't want her dead because given his M.O, he'd just shoot any burden in his path. And as you pointed out, Voldemort isn't exactly the first person to be trying to spare the life of a Muggle-born, especially when his entire mission is to "cleanse" the entire wizard race of them.

But that's as far as I'll go. I've learned far too well that JKR surprises her readers with explanations no one could ever guess. So if I wanted to speculate on Voldemort's motives, this post would turn into a novel because JKR could go quite a few ways on this.

Homer's words of wisdom on women: "If a woman says nothing's wrong, everything is wrong. And if a woman says everything is wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong. And if a woman says something is not funny, you better not laugh your ass off."

I really think tht Lilly is going to have worked in the D.O.M. when she worked. she might have worked in the love department, and thats how she knew about the spell that she used to save Harry. i mean, COME ON!! Her husband died for her to get away, do you really thnk that she would have let his death b a lost cause? No. I think that she knew what she was doing if she watched her husband die fo her2 run 4 it. But, this is all just my whacked out theory. idk, but I think that she will do somthin' big. (btw- any1 no the significance of the green eyes yet?!?!?!)

Maybe Voldemort was feeling generous since he believed he had finally reached the thing that would make him invisible? Also, we don't know how Voldemort killed people. He really doesn't seem the type to just randomly kill people himself. He sends out his followers to kill random people. He seems to pick and choose exactly who he wants to kill personally, which is demonstrated by the fact that it took him all that time to make the 7 horcruxes. Over the span of his first life, he killed only 7 people, it appears. We are given no reason to doubt that, since so many of the people Voldemort "killed" were actually killed by the Death Eaters. Voldemort, it appears to me, is very picky about his murders, and plans them out precisly and to advance his way towards getting 7 horcruxes. He may have believed that killing Lily would hinder his progress toward his goal. He probably would normally send his death eaters after a person like Lily, since he got James, and that was all he needed to create his horcruxes before killing Harry. Also, it could just have no meaning. It could just be for the story's sake in the 3rd book that Harry heard such dramatic scene. It's probably just there to pull on our heartstrings a little bit.

About the green eyes. Did it ever occur to you that not everything has a meaning? Green eyes are rare. So, I think that the fact that he's got brilliantly green eyes is a unique thing about him that he shares with his mother. And that's it. The end.
