Newbie with silly question

After years of looking longingly at the Breguet's in magazines and display cases, I finally took the plunge with a 5140 last week. I love the watch, wear it every day, and honestly I can't stop looking at it on my wrist.

However this morning I was disappointed to note the first scratch on the case. Yes, I know this is the inevitable result of actually wearing the watch, but it's so beautiful I can't just leave it at home.

This is the first gold watch I've owned, my JLC, Glashutte etc are all SS. So my (probably silly) question to the forum is - can I get scratches and marks polished out of a gold watch the same way as I do my SS watches? Is this a smart thing to do? If I knew the scratches could easily come out, I would be a whole lot less anxious about wearing it all the time.

refinishing gold is typically easier than refinishing steel

And gives more consistently good results as well. Enjoy your watch!
