If I'm recalling correctly, driver helmets are not even mandated by NASCAR. The sanctioning body has been successful in leaving most safety concerns and subsequent devices in the hands of the individual teams and drivers. At this point, a 'knee-jerk' reaction to this issue is not the answer. If you want to eliminate the possibility of injury or death, then heck, don't even get out there and race.

NASCAR is dragging their feet on the Humpy Bumper because they do not like the fact it came from Humpy Wheeler. Through in NBC not making the reference to Lowes Motorspeedway and the plot thickens.
