I'm afraid Mayfield's still in jeopardy. Penske teams are really good at keeping silly season stuff quiet.
Mayfield is still using a different chassis than Rusty. Ryan Newman and Rusty use the same chassis. Mayfield and Rusty really can't have the benefits teammates do under this current situation - sharing setups and testing information. Mayfield has his strong tracks though like Darlington, whereas Rusty really struggles there.
Rusty and Newman run under the race team Penske South organization and Mayfield runs under Penske Racing, LLC. They are really 2 seperate entities. All they really share are engines and wind tunnel data.

ok i hate to say this but jeremys days are # in the 12 car! i cant wait till ryan gets to cup,who will ryan be facing for the rookie championship?and if jeremeys out whos in?

Well, guess this ain't the hot topic I thought it would be. Looks like Mayfield is fastest in testing. Newman is 3rd though. I think Mayfield's quick time is due to agressive camber on his setup, but you can not deny the Penske horsepower. Hopefully this is a good sign for Rusty's dismal showing testing there 2 weeks ago.
