I worked at KANU/AFRTS with Rick Glasby, Dan McGrath, the King brothers, Larry Snider and others. I'd love to hear from anybody who was at Kagnew when I was.

Hi,

I was at Kagnew from 72-74. I was a Navy Seabee working at the different sites - mainly Gura. I was shocked to stumble across this website and yet happy that someone would spend the time to create the site. I have so many stories to tell about my time in Ethiopia that I need to take the time and right it down.

There are many names that I remember and stories for each person.

Steve

I was there in with the Navy contingent 73-74 just a year or so before the army was picking up its sticks to leave and the Navy started taking over. Worked mornings out at Track F maintaining the Satellite weather station with Jim Skokus (sp?) and Tom Fisk and spent the PMs working at AFRTS ("the RocK" of East Africa). Learned to run the engineering and DJ sides of the station from Roland Richter (Army type), last seen in TX in '76. Got to be the last talker on the AM radidio before we pulled the plug in May 74. I still have a few momentos and I'll have to look them over before I start naming names. Haven't seen or heard from too many. Played in 2 bands while there: Band X and Three's a Crowd (or was it "Three's Company"). Bill Faison, if you're out there, Hello.... Always interested in hearing about the place as it seems to be an "exclusive membership" that no one else can join. Feel free to contact me. I'm planning on being at the next reunion in Oct 2002.
