I have an emergency e-mail notification list that I started back in November 2005 (I think) when we had problems with the site (I think it was Hurricane Wilma who was the troublemaker). If you'd like to be contacted by e-mail about site ups & downs, you can e-mail me at little_ninja@sbcglobal.net I'll keep your e-maill address private and promise I won't send you any spam or stuff unrelated to the SS site.

I was glad I had the e-mails of some squalorettes. It was Vildy's response to my e-mail that provided me the link to this network54.com forum and the instructions to enter chat.

LN, I haven't seen everyone on your list on the site (posting, that is.) So I was wondering if, since the list is fairly short, you might have the time to send a little note, with just the link to this site.

I am sure they would appreciate it. Some may bounce, but what can you do? At least the others would have the info.

I won't be able to receive any email sent to squalorsurvivors.com until the nameserver info for squalorsurvivors.com is updated to point to DotNetPark's nameservers. That will hopefully be in around 12 hours time, if all goes well (HA!) If that goes ahead, the information then takes time to propogate throughout the Internet.

Also, from 1 to 3pm NZ time I will be offline because TV3 are screening It's a Wonderful Life and I somehow got to 39 without ever seeing it, so I'm going to remedy that.

How it went for me:

1) Okay, site went down Wednesday night, 12/20/06, and Pigpen replied to my e-mail, giving an explanation.. I sent an SS alert messaage to whomever was on my SS alert e-mail list (not updated since November 2005).

2) Shosha replied to my e-mail alert and told me that the chat was still up and working via the older network54 forum.

3) Driver-mom contacted me and wondered how to enter the chat session. (I didn't know myself, since I'm not much of a chatter!)

4) I sent out a request on my e-mail alert message to ask how to enter chat.

5) Vildy responded first and gave a link & instructions on how to access the old forum and enter chat (which is the only way I would've made it here!)

I "suppose" that those in chat were given a link to here, but what about "the others"? How did ya'll find your way here?

I was in chat and hearing about how the website was down, but just thought it was affecting a few people as I was getting into the website and posting just fine. So, there was a link given in chat. And, at one point CrazyCatlady6 got thru to the website and posted the link in one of my threads on listzilla so got in that way. But, today...i couldn't get in the website at times and couldn't find chatroom again , so checked my email and found it in your emails to me. Thank you very much, LN.

I got here from PigPen's email to everyone. I found chat before that from going into my history from about 3 weeks ago and luckily the link for just chat was still in there. I always access chat through the forum pages...I NOW have direct chat link bookmarked and bookmarked this link also.

Honest to Pete. I fell in. Not kidding there!

Arrived home late Wed nite and checked in 1st thing (as is my habit). Nada. tried from 2 computers and 3 browswers. Nada.

Got email from SS sibling on Thu with a copy of Pigpens note that started this post so I just thought it was a matter of "waiting it out".

I HAD been checking the old forums periodically to see if this was reactivated but nothing new was happening (perhaps old cookies on my machine?). I wasn't sure if I had ever requested being OK'd for chat (not much of a chatter here either!) and miracle of miracles, I was. Even in chat, nobody seemed to be mentioning this board as being active.

Went to chat today briefly. When I "exited" chat, BINGO BANGO, here I was. STILL have no idea honestly where I am that is "different" from the "old" site address or how I got here.

And Ninja, I have MISSED daily accountability like you can't imagine! Even tho I didn't post every day, that was often a kick start for me. I never truly realized how much until it wasn't there!

In other news, we just had an earthquake about 10 minutes ago. Took a second for the USGS site to update. It was only a 3.7....but felt and heard here. THAT will wake a girl right up!

I WILL be accounting for myself tomorrow Ninja. Have worked at "business" work all week like a silly fool. Really want and need to get back to the house and to my routines.

I realize now I need to write my routines down somewhere other than SS. I had wanted them to become so habitual that I didn't have to even remember what they were. Appears I'm not quite there yet! I do know there is much to be done in the way of daily "maintenance" and steps in moving forward kind of stuff.

Looking foward to seeing your smiling face tomorrow. BTW, I adore your current avatar (Otter?) but your old Ninja was a cutie. Good to see her in action here as well!

I saw the posts a few days ago about problems with the site, then Wednesday or Thursday I had the same problem (got the "celebrity" website). Tonight I did a Google search for "squalor survivors website" in the hopes of finding some info. One of the results (www.hypno-therapies.com/resources.html) had a link to www.network54.com/forum/139128, and that brought me here!

Haven't quite figured out what's what here, but I'll be back tomorrow!

I vaguely half remembered & half guessed Angelina Hedgehog's email addy from one message long ago, emailed her in desperation---serious withdrawal here---& she kindly saved my life! Yayyy, AH !!!---catcat

I went frantic a bit....and did a registration search on the domain name. Several sites revealed "no information", but one revealed what end up to be PigPen's email address. I sent an email asking if that person was the owner and what was going on with the site, and happily for me, PigPen sent me an email right back and gave me this link!

When the site first went down, I emailed her, and then went out to an appointment. I came home and found SS was back online, and the explanation about the domain name renewal and propagation. Yesterday, I went straight from work to a friend's home for a small Christmas party, just a group of gals hanging out drinking cosmos and reminiscing into the wee hours of morning. I didn't try to get online because I got home so late.

Then I got up around noon central time, and got the parking page again. I emailed pigpen again to ask if there was an IP to connect to the site in case it was still a name propagation error, and she replied with this url.

Short story made long?LOL

When I came home and the site was gone (woe!) I logged into chat, and it was either CrazyCatLady or CanDo who gave me the URL for the old forum.

I noticed I couldn't get to the site with the regular address for a couple of days. I thought of emailing PigPen by using whois to find the site owner but I was having trouble with that.

This morning I finally had the bright idea of searching for the chat forum - I hadn't bookmarked it - and found it!! I was going to try squalorsurvivors.org or .net but I was given the direct link to here in chat. Now I see .org would have worked too.

I remembered that some members here are also regulars at reclaiming dignity and have been peeking at their forums off and on to see if there was any mention of what was going on. I`m not real chatty here but usually check in a couple times a day for inspiration so I`ve really been missing it in my pre-Christmas push. Happy to say that except for a few spots of stubbornly resisting clutter, I`m mostly ready for some non-judgmental company for Christmas dinner. Hope this gets straightened out soonest!
