Thanks so much for all your input. I have printed out everything both of you posted. After reading all this and talking to some other people I think Cheryl is correct that this is not a legal IEP. I have called an advocate, just waiting for her to return the call. I am considering hiring a lawyer.
I am also seriously considering taking him out of school. Today they caused a major meltdown from their own stupidity. My daughter stayed home from school today because she was not feeling well. She had an appointment with the Dr. at 3:30, about the time Brian gets home from school. So I called his PCA to come to the house early and meet him at the bus. I then called the school to let Brian know that his schedule had changed.
This was community day for his class and they had not made it back to school yet. So stupid, trusting, me left a message in the office for Brian telling him that I had taken Katie to the Dr. but B.J. would be waiting here at home for him.
Of course the school messed up the message and told Brian that I needed to go to the Dr. and he should stay after school to wait for B.J.
So Brian is at school frantic because he thinks I am sick, B.J. is at my house waiting for the bus that doesn't come. The school called my house 5 times telling me I need to come get Brian because his ride didn't show up. of course I was at the Dr. with Katie. Finally B.J. called the school and found out Brian was still there. All this took about an hour. Brian held together pretty well at school but had a MAJOR meltdown when he got home. He is supposed to be helping coach a 4th grade basketball team, but was so upset that he didn't get to go tonight, which only upset him even more.
I think I hate schools and the people who are supposed to be running them.
Sorry this got to be so long, but I really needed to vent. Thanks again for all your help.
