update: flowers, and Jasper

yes, the flowers.... they are now a week old and NOT even one has died!!!
can you believe that?...
they are amazing.... there is a little spungy thing in there, where they are all stuck to (have never gotten flowers from a store before, so really have no idea what it is called), and it said to keep watering it, (was thinking what the heck is one supposed to water that sponge for?, but followed instructions)... and perhaps that is what the flowers are feeding from, but they are still totally happy looking!

just wanted to give updates...

Jasper, he IS doing better still... only two toes have the dead skin left on them, but it is all cracked up and ready to fall off ... the top of his foot, has several spots of very new skin, where dead parts fell off, and seems there is still a few "grey" patches of skin, which will propably fall off soon... the original place of infection, where it was the worst.. still has a open sore on it, he keeps licking it and licking it... each time a scab forms he licks it off... am getting upset about that.. today, just put a sock on it, and will keep putting it on if he takes it off... so far so good.. but he sure looks annoyed...
what am a little worried about is this...
there is one toe, which has started swelling, and all along where the nail meets the flesh, (Iwhere it starts to grow out from) it is very red, puffy, and seems even the skin is cracking open... am worried there is an infection in there...
the doctor, took him off the strongest antibiotics he was on, and said to finish the amoxicillin... (wonder if dogs could taek acidophillus?.. am sure he must have a terrible yeast problem by now)... but said to keep an eye out for any swelling, puffy redness... that it means the infection is still in the deeper layers of his fooot... it looked much better while he was on the amoxicillin, and also for a few days after that.. but last night noticed that toe like that...
will try to get him to the vet next week, (or whenever eldon will want to take us)....

also, wanting to ask...
do you think dogs get depressed when people say mean things?
am worried about that...
eldon keeps calling jasper "handi-gimp".. and am so upset about that.. also, he claims that jasper is "faking" that his foot is sore....
he says the jasper only lifts up his leg and walks on three when someone is looking... saying that he has seen jasper"run" on all fours....
what am having trouble understanding is this...
surely he propably does walk/run on it at times, but surely it must be terribly so as well... because he still has these "spasms" in that leg, constantly....
does anyone know anything about injuries like this.. is it not feasible/propable that he is in pain often?
and is it no true, that even if he was "faking it" would it not be good to give him the extra attention he is seeking... (jasper has become somewhat 'neurotic' (eldons words) after his injury.. if anyone else is getting attention, he wants to get inbetween... and as soon as the persons stops petting him, he puts his ears back, tail between his legs, and walks quickly into the bedroom, goes to lay on his blanket, and starts to lick his sore foot....

problem: son is now taking on the perspective that jasper is faking, and when ever jasper does this (keeps his foot up high) he is saying to him "ohh jasper your a big faker"... am always telling him, "jaspers foot IS sore, and even if jasper IS faking, it means he is needing some loving, and is feeling left out in some way"....

what do you think about this...
