bought computer new in 1996.... well actually the university special needs students department did...
and some programs to teach me how to do certain things ... like calculations were all done... but anyways..
that computer (this one) has 16 RAM and had a pentium 133 mhz small hard drive.....
that hard drive broke... got "physical errors" on it...
then eventually it chrashed seriously... NOTHING worked... even since.. it couldnt recognize sound card, and more.... eventually got a new hard drive (not NEW but from ebay)... in 2000 .... this one propably has around 8 gig hard drive (cant recall but its 3 X more then had...but still not as large as generally peoplehave.. but dont need any more).... that hard drive was put in by one of eldons neighbours ... charging mineself $60 to put it in.. and to put in windows for me... because the windows that had gotten with this computer, was only an upgrade, and not the whole windows program .... (it was all on floppies)... so they put in a copy of their own.... and gave a disc of it... it was win 98 ! .. it will install at 16meg RAM but needs 24 to operate... this found out mineself from reading web.... had to start reading because this computer now works worse then it did when it had the broken hard drive... !! .. it can take up to 20 minutes to log online and to have a website loaded.. with the times it freezes, needs to be re-started... the incredibly snlow response time is worse ... much worse then it was with win95.
theonly easier way to do this would be to put in more RAM to make it all work better... just is not an option.... so need to get rid of win98, and put win95 in ... that what ran on the computer before this other hard drive and dont know of other way to fix this performance problem?
