Response to Cool Merlin: We don't need any special ed or special interventions or anything!

1. People who are profoundly affected by autism:
There is already a lot of evidence that people on spectrum are deeply affected by environment. I believe strongly that getting appropriate diet eg gf/cf, ceasing practices such as thimersol in vaccines and adding fluoride to water, amalgam fillings, living with high levels of chemicals due to fertilizers, synthetics in homes and poor waste disposal will alleviate the distressing aspects of autism. I don't know if that will eliminate kanner autism, but i suspect it will go a long way towards doing so. I believe that our lifestyle is so toxic to sensitive individuals, ie those with autism genes, that it is destroying us.

Evidence for that belief: personal experience in altering diet. look at gf/cf message boards, andrew's site with info about fluoride, autism/mercury message board. the evidence is all there and people need to know this stuff before they have children.

re mutations: mutation occurs as a response to environment or as is happening a lot with food technology, by artificial manipulation. the environmental response is a coping mechanism. I have seen a paper describing the autistic brain as ideal for people who live as hunter/gatherers, and it seems to me that it is also useful in the digital age. lol Maybe NT is the mutation for coping with a toxic lifestyle.
