sounds like fun for any child. All children would be so lucky.
I did try him in the after school program. Today was his first day. He was at this school for kindergarten. Then for first grade, they shipped him to a different town. Now for second grade, they have him at yet ANOTHER school. It is so cruel. There has been no consistency with his non-disabled peers.
But the after school program IS in our home community. And, two boys that were in his kindergarten class and a cute little first grade girl were all over him. They were chatting away at him and following him around. He looked happier than I've seen him in a loong time. I hope it lasts.
The aide said, "I'll try it." Whatever that means. If it doesn't go well, I'd be in a real pickle. I need to come up with a backup plan. But the college girls that I recruited last year weren't as dependable as what I'm used to. One day, the one girl didn't show up and didn't get a hold of anyone and the bus was there until 5 pm. It was a disaster.
Hopefully this will work out. I think people (old staff) have scared them about Troy. HE IS JUST A LITTLE BOY! There is no reason for anyone to be scared of him. But, people just aren't used to things and get so worked up.
Glad to hear about your fun outing!
