I want to thank you ....

While i dont think your method of deceit was the way to go, lieing is is probably #1 on my list of things i hate most (and i do think it was very unprofessional) posting on this board did let me know there WAS/IS a problem at the school. And had you not posted on the board i would not have known the extent of the problem because i have been told the problem wasn't serious. And it is.

I observed my child in school today. And i saw aggressive behavior I had not seen at home in a very VERY long time. (I suppose I was in denial that there was a problem because I had not seen aggressive behavior like that in such a long time).
I also saw an illtrained aide try to deal with it, unable to see the signs of escalation and also reinforcment of the negative behavior. I saw that recommendations by experts had not been followed to prevent that escalation, too.

Unfortunately I had to stop observing due to the fact that when i tried to point out the problem(s) and offer a solution my suggestions were seen as a threat (rather than the training tool it could a been) and i was immediately whisked to a small room to meet with the principal and sped teacher.

It is really too bad that school people see parents as threats rather than the "expert" for their child. Its too bad people view a parent simply as somone who is telling them they cant do the job rather than trying to learn from them how to do that job(course no way could a mere parent know how to deal with a disability, i dont have a degree).

I also saw denial of doing anything wrong rather than admitting the shortcomings and trying to learn, and that is worrisome.

I would like to have seen more, but after being taken to the room i was very upset and leaving my child after telling him i was staying was even more upsetting and trying to go back would a caused him even more stress. I will go back another day....

Hopefully we can get an expert in here they will listen to, then perhaps people will have appropriate training and the problems will be solved.

SO, thanks again, and if you ever feel a need to bring anything to my attention again, i ask just that you be honest rather than deceitful, honesty is always the best policy....

ohhh, and ya know, if the school doesnt provide the training that has been pointed out to them as being absolutely necessary, you could sue em
