Hi. With my Asperger's kids, I have found some success in creating worksheets/forms and putting them into a special folder. We call it the "Go Folder." There is a page to fill out daily plans and how school went and our crisis plan for the day. Also a page called "What do you need?" for the child to circle an intervention that seems helpful. (OT things are listed, such as deep pressure, crunching on ice, bouncing on a trampoline, realxing CD etc.) If any of this stuff sounds helpful I'd be delighted to send you copies!
Reading your post, I think I could place some of the OT-type objects into a box to have on hand when times are getting hairy! A squishy ball, a fuzzy pillow, a notebook and pen, hard candies, etc.
