My friend's son has severe reflux and is taking Prilosec. He's tried other things but Prilosec is the only thing that works. Doctors assume it is safe, but there aren't any studies on children, so no one knows for sure. Since he is taking it anyhow, he and others like him should be followed for reaction, etc.
It's only recently that medication has been tested on women, and now we're finding women often react differently (and not like smaller versions of men). What sort of long-term effects are medications having on children? It is crucial that children not be treated as little adults when it comes to medication. |
