re: Mac

As many others have said, he will be missed. He was a pillar of the QBASIC community, and a leader of it. His knowledge, experience, and personality were very valuable. He and I disagreed often over the several years that I have been here, about the forums, about programming techniques, and about other things, but still, I am very glad to have been in association with him. I have learned from him, and hope to retain at least some of those lessons.

When Pete emailed me that he was dying, I sent him a short email. I didn't really know what to say, so I basically just said that he had accomplished a lot. In retrospect, I should have devoted more time to the email, and should have made it a little more personal.

Those who come to these forums in the future can learn a lot by going back and reviewing some of the things Mac and the other old regulars have posted. (Not necessarily so much in this subforum, as there are many thousands of posts here, way too many to read, but more so in the other subforums.)
