Microsoft is stupid...

They released the compiler version, QuickBasic, first. They probably got greedy and decided they wanted to promote it by offering a cut version, which could not compile anything, in the 3.1 operating system. They hooked me that way. I started out with QBasic 1.1 on my Windows 3.1 and bought QuickBasic to compile stand alone applications. Later, they came out with 7.1, also called PDS for Professinal Development System if my memory serves me correctly (and if doesn't, someone else here will serve me, by correcting my memory... but I digress...)

Anyway, QuickBasic (aka QB4.5) is just the most popular. PDS has everything QB4.5 does plus just a few more features. For most people, well, apparently it just wasn't enough extra features to be worth paying the much higher price tag to upgrade to PDS.

Oh, and what does this have to do with the title? "Microsoft is stupid" Nothing really, they just are.

Pete
