Skilled workers need not apply...by (Login The-Universe)Admin The growing popularity in programming languages I think is turning towards those languages that can use statements to call libraries to do a host of things that us dinosaurs used to stay up nights coding. I see why that would appeal to younger people. Why spend days making a 2-D object move across the screen when you could use some program engine, design your own avatar, and have it do a host of activities? I think that's where the future will be, in games; especially games with simple ways to design your own game elements, which involve more of the challenges you face in the game rather than the challenges you face to make the game engine.
My kid has the right idea. He tells me, "Dad, I want to be a game designer, not a programmer." I look at it this way. I can do a lot of math in my head but if a calculator is handy, I can get my work done faster and save my brain power to do other things, like find where my wife keeps hiding the damn cookies! (And no Ted, not the ones stored in my computer... the ones with the non-Intel chocolate chips in them.) Pete PS. No one would say ... "an Free.." but "an F..." is correct because the "F" makes a short vowel sound where the "F" in Free does not. Sorry, but I have to give you an F in grammar. And no, don't reply... "I don't need no "F" in grammar; because you do.
