Cool and useful!by Solitaire (Login Solitaire1)R It certainly pays to spend time in the initial preparation of a program that will save tons of time thereafter.
From the above description, I assume you are a teacher of common branches (all subjects). What grade do you teach? I was a grade-school teacher (NYC Public School System) up until my retirement in 1996. I taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 6, finished up the last few years with 2nd grade. We didn't have to submit comments for each subject on each student. Report cards were issued 3 times a year, with grades for each subject, and would include a general comment. Now I have a complicated system for determining my programming students' grades, using an Excel spreadsheet with formulas I programmed to my specifications. I adjust grades for each of the assigned homework, projects, exams, and the final grade to follow a normal curve. During the semester, one column will calculate the estimated overall grade based on exams and work submitted to date. (I penalize late submissions of homework and projects that are well past the due date, and reward on-time submissions.) Periodically, I display the spreadsheet in class so the students can get an idea of their current status. |
