One of the rudest awakenings (after not buying comics for 20 years) is the cover price! I recall being so put out when comics went from 35¢ to 40¢, paying a whole $4.00 for the titles I collected for any given month! I think when I stopped buying, the cover price was 60¢ or thereabouts. Also, you could buy comics at just about every drugstore on a carousel, but not anymore. I must sound like a throwback, huh?

Thanks,
Derek

That's simple, if people will pay for it, why not raise the price? People think they are worth something, or will be worth something simply because they are "comic books". You can still buy them at a Booksamillion, online, or a Barns&Noble. They are around, just gotta pay a pretty penny because it's a business like any other.

In fact, that isn't the only reason comics have risen in price. Paper, writing & art talent, ink, and most of all transportation have shot up in price since the 1970's when you last bought comics. When I started buying, the prices were about 65 cents, but they certainly aren't anymore.

To tell the truth though, the only comic I buy that costs more than $3 is Fallen Angel. Most Marvel & DC books hover between $2.50 and $3.00
