I'm not sure if you really wanna hear my thoughts on this matter, but here goes. I think we must first reflect on the previous reunion, the 30th. The reunion committee got together, and as time went on more people got involved. With the combined efforts of everyone involved, we managed to put together the reunion. This effort took quite a few months of diligence and time and hard work.
At the end of the day however, people were mainly bitching about paying for parking, the food wasn't up to par, and even the facility was criticized and the bar. I guess I am just gullible and nieve. I always thought it was mainly about the people and getting together to enjoy each other's company. Silly me! It just seems nothing is ever good enough for a lot of folks.
Now, here we are, talking about a 35th year reunion and there just doesn't seem to be much positive response toward that goal. Am I just missing the boat again, or what's up? Do that many people actually look on the forum for updates? Or is the forum being abandoned due to all the nonsensical anonymous postings which occur on it? Is there REALLY any interest among our classmates from so long ago to get together again? I just don't know.
My personal belief is that it really doesn't matter WHERE we would have a gathering, but moreso WHO would want to intend. Therein lies the true dilemma. Remember when Jo and I made the effort to have a party, in an attempt to gather as many folks together and try to drum up some discussion for having or not having another reunion? We explicity called out to the past members of the committee to attend. We had a super turnout, and everyone seemed to have a great time, but who were the no-shows? The reunion committee members, that's who. I talked to Jimmy Gatewood, and at least he had a fairly good suggestion: Pick a date at the Gelk's, inlist 2 or 3 bands to play, have an outdoor cookout, try to get the word out, and whoever shows will make it happen. That's the best suggestion I've heard so far. Again, I believe it's about the people, so we could have a mini-Woodstock out in a pasture somewhere as far as I'm concerned. It's about LOVE, MUSIC, PEOPLE and breakfast for 300,000 (or less)!! I say, "Come on and git u sum"!! PUT UP OR SHUT UP. And that's all I have to say on it......Love, Jeffro
