Back in touch

by

I was so glad to get a message from Gary DuBose urging me to come up for air (which I suppose we all ought to do every thirty years or so, right?) I am married with four kids ages 17-24 and one granddaughter age 2. I am the minister at the Sunset Ave. Church of Christ in Madera, Ca. which is just north of Fresno.

At the age of 51 and after a bunch of years in electronics manufacturing materials management, we quit perfectly good jobs in Austin, sold our house and went to preaching school in Lubbock, Texas. What a shift! Never been happier.

In September of 2008, I was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Not a good surprise. As of this week, I have completed 7 of 12 chemotherapy sessions. They are three days long every two weeks. THe prognosis is very positive and results to date have been great. The big tumor in my liver has already reduced by two-thirds. Prayers are very welcomed! I still have my hair and am gaining weight rether than losing. One of those is ok, the other falls short of my hopes for my book called the Chemotherapy Diet which would surely have put me on easy street. But alas, no such deal.

I author a daily Christian Devotional located at www.seekinggodsheart.wordpress.com if you'd like to check it out. Our family pics are on facebook under my wife's email debbyshelley@yahoo.com.

We will be making a loop through Lubbock, Dallas and Austin in May. Maybe we'll see you then. Until that time, May God bless your heart as you seek His. Bryan
