40 Years ago today ...

by Jolly Roger

Do you remember where you were when you heard the words "Houston, the Eagle has landed" and the first men were on the Moon? 40 years ago today, Apollo 11 landed on the Moon and Neal Armstrong set foot on the Moon with the words "A small step for man, a giant leap for mankind". (He was a little nervous. It was supposed to be "A small step for A man, a giant leap for mankind".) It was a tense moment. The computers were overloaded, they had overshot the prefered landing area, they were low on fuel, and the area they were headed to was filled with craters that could tip over the lander. They only had one shot and they made it.
