the "ss" was a reference, from the very beginning, to the garden of eden, to being tempted by summat, a snake, a promise, whatever, just to get yourself ahead, whilst forsaking paradise for some momentary earthly glory
it was relevent then and it is relevant now, even more so
the hiss of the snake coming down the tree - it's not just Eve, she was just a metaphor...we are all tempted. But heaven can only be attained by denying the temptation. NoBoots greeted the snake like a long lost friend, as I always knew he would.
