Long Lost Love Come Home Ch. 69

Belle and Shawn waited in the waiting room of the doctor’s office. “How long do they make you wait here?” Shawn asked as he looked at his watch for about the fourth time since he and Belle had sat down.
“Read a magazine,” Belle said, nodding to the stacks of magazines across the office.
“They are all in French, and I only speak German and Italian,” Shawn said as he glanced at the magazines.
“It wont be much longer. I swear if our child is as restless as you, I am going to lose my mind,” Belle teased.
“Isabella Black?” A dark haired nurse called.
“Right here,” Belle said as she collected her belongings and followed the nurse behind the curtains, with Shawn in tow.
“Change into this and the doctor will be right with you,” the nurse said as she left Shawn and Belle in the exam room.
Shawn sat down on the table while Belle changed into the gown that the nurse had left for her. “Um…Shawn, I believe that I am supposed to be up there,” Belle said laughing at the sight of Shawn putting his legs into the stirrups.
Shawn got down from the table and began to look at the posters on the wall of the female anatomy, while Belle got up on the table.
“Well well well, if it isn’t Isabella Black. What seems to be the problem?” John Grady asked.
“Hello John. This is my fiancé Sergeant Shawn Brady. Shawn this is my doctor John Grady,” Belle said as the two guys shook hands and exchanged greetings.
“So what’s going on Isabella?” John asked once everyone had gotten seated.
“Well, it is time for my ultrasound!” Belle said excitedly.
“Oh so that is the reason for the glow. Well let me go grab a machine, and we will get started. Get comfortable, I will be right back,” John Grady said as he left the room.
“So…um…do you know this guy very well?” Shawn asked.
“Well other than the fact that he was the one that told me that I am pregnant, no. But he sure knows me,” Belle said with a laugh as she positioned herself in the stirrups.
“What do you mean?” Shawn asked.
“Well he has seen a whole lot of me,” Belle giggled.
“Oh,” Shawn said.
“Why Shawn, are you jealous?” Belle inquired.
“No…I just…”
“I got the machine, are you ready?” John Grady interrupted.
“Umm…yeah,” Belle said.
John smeared a green goo on Belle’s stomach and turned on the machine. He searched with the wand for the sound of the heartbeat. “There it is,” John said, pointing to the black and white screen.
“That’s our baby?” Shawn said, reaching for Belle’s hand.
“Yep, that’s it,” John said. “Wait a second…there’s something…”
“What? What’s wrong?” Belle panicked.
“Well, I don’t know if you were planning on a surprise today, but I found a second heartbeat,” John said as he focused on two small masses on the black and white screen.
“What is it?” Shawn asked.
“Well, you better plan on buying twice as much stuff for your nursery, you are going to have twins,” John Grady said, turning off the machine. “Your pictures are printing, I will be right back with them. Isabella, you can get dressed.”
“Twins?” Belle said as reality suddenly began to hit her.
