LLLCH ch. 78
by Lil Italy (no login)
Belle felt as though she had been holding her breath the entire week. She had gone to work every day, hoping to get her mind off of Shawn and the confusion surrounding their impending nuptials and birth of their first children.
Mimi had spent the entire week at their penthouse as well, so once Belle escaped her hectic life at the office, she came home to a depressed and usually hysterical Mimi. Belle knew that it was just jealousy and hormones, but she was getting tired of having to calm Mimi down every few minutes.
Phillip called constantly for the first couple days, but became frustrated with Mimi, and told her to come home when she came to her senses. Granted a stupid thing for him to say, but nothing else seemed to work.
Finally Belle decided to help Phillip out, and get Mimi out of her home for awhile.
“Meems, come on it’s time for our doctor’s appointments,” Belle told her friend.
“That’s today?” Mimi asked
“Yeah, in half an hour. I told you yesterday,” Belle scolded her.
“Can’t we cancel them, something really good is supposed to happen on General Hospital today,” Mimi said boldly.
“Mimi, it’s a soap opera, this is your baby.”
Mimi looked at Belle and sighed. “Alright let me get my purse.”
Belle drove to the hospital, and as always it was bustling with activity. Belle and Mimi rode the elevator up to their OBGYN’s floor. In the lobby waiting, was Phillip. He looked horrible, stressed undoubtedly.
Belle greeted him first, she hugged him lightly as Mimi stood back and looked with him in disgust. “What are you doing here?” She asked coldly.
“Mimi, I understand that you are angry with me right now, but I am not going to miss the doctors appointments for OUR baby because you are to stubborn to realize that nothing is going on between me and Daisy,” Phillip was angry with her, who wouldn’t be? He didn’t make any attempt to move towards Mimi.
“Mr. and Mrs. Kiriakis?” a nurse asked.
Phillip nodded at her and walked after the nurse towards their exam room.
“Belle what’s he doing here?” Mimi asked angrily.
“Meems, he wants to be here,” Belle said, trying to bridge the gap between her two closest friends.
“Well I don’t want him here!” Mimi yelled.
“Mimi, stop being so self-fish!” Belle snapped. “Just talk to him and fix this! Is this the kind of family you want your child brought into?”
Mimi shook her head, “I just don’t know how to fix this.” She said sadly.
“I know that you are both very stubborn, but it will help if you talk to him,” Belle lectured.
Mimi nodded in agreement. “I wish I was in your shoes, Shawn isn’t even here to be with me for the doctors appointments.”
“I’m sorry I have been such a brat during all of this Belle,” Mimi apologized sincerely.
“Mrs. Kiriakis?” The nurse called again.
Mimi smiled at Belle and followed the nurse back to her room where Phillip had already found a chair, and began filling out paperwork.
The nurse left gave Mimi a paper gown and left her to change in private with her soon to be husband.
Mimi slipped behind a screen, and Phillip didn’t seem to notice nor care.
“What’s your blood type?” he asked.
Mimi poked her head out from behind the screen. “A positive.”
Phillip marked her answer on one of the numerous forms.
Mimi emerged from behind the screen dressed in the uncomfortable gown.
“Phillip?” Mimi said, requesting her fiancé’s notice.
Phillip looked up at her. For a moment her though his jaw had dropped. Her figure was full with the shape of their child, her hair was long and dark, her natural color. But her eyes, her most intriguing feature were cold and dark, untrusting and uncertain. She was the most beautiful woman that Phillip had ever seen, but she was obviously hurt. Daisy was nothing compared to her, this woman standing in front of Phillip. Sure he noticed Daisy when she pranced around din her tiny outfits, and thrust her breasts in his face. Of course the thought had crossed his mind, and he even found himself aroused by her. She was a heavenly goddess, and Phillip cursed himself for having felt any flutter of feelings for that woman. But however tempted Phillip was, he never wanted to lose Mimi.
“Yes?” he replied, uncertain of the things that were about to be uncovered.
“Tell me the truth. What happened with you and…her?” Mimi asked. Phillip could sense how brave she was being.
“Mimi, nothing happened. I swear to you, on my life, I never cheated on you.” Phillip said truthfully.
“Did you EVER want her?” Mimi asked.
Phillip hesitated. “I would be lying if I told you no. She was young and beautiful, but I would never ever do anything to hurt you, and I would never do anything that would risk our relationship. I admit to having un-pure thoughts, but during those thoughts I never thought I would lose you in the process. I know that I did, and it’s my fault. I also know that you lost trust in me because of all I put you through, but I am willing to do anything to make it up to you.”
“Would you fire her?” Mimi asked bluntly.
“Mimi, I can’t fire her,” Phillip said honestly, knowing that Daisy had signed a contract.
“Then I don’t know what to do. She will still be there everyday, tempting you. What am I supposed to do next time, when you aren’t strong enough to resist her?” Mimi asked. Phillip saw tears in her eyes, but she was to proud to cry.
“Mimi, that would never happen. I don’t need her and I don’t want her, the only things in this world that I want are you and our child. Mimi I promise. You are the one and only for me.”
Mimi studied his face. He seemed serious and very sincere, but she still wasn’t sure.
“How are we doing today Mrs. Kiriakis?” the doctor asked.
“Fine,” Mimi said softly, as the doctor hooked up the sonogram machine, undid Mimi’s gown, and squeezed the jelly onto her exposed stomach.
Phillip still sat in the chair where he had been when Mimi entered the room. But when the doctor found the heart beat, and pointed towards the monitor, Phillip moved close to Mimi’s side.
Out of instinct, they both joined hands and watched their healthy child inside Mimi.
