Internet Advice Chapter 5

Chapter Five
Shawn unlocks his front door and steps inside just as Philip is pulling out of the driveway. He goes straight to the kitchen to grab something to drink. On the refrigerator is a note from his mother.

Shawn,
Dad and I decided to have a night out. J.T. is with Grandpa Doug and Grandma Julie. There is leftover pot roast in the fridge - help yourself. Be Good!
Love,
Mom

Shawn grabs a coke from the refrigerator and goes up to his bedroom. He sets the coke on his nightstand, grabs his phone and dials Belle's number.
Shawn: I'm sure she's still at Dot.com (After the fourth ring the answering machine picks up. He decides to leave her a message.) Hey Belle, it's Shawn. I wanted to ask you something, so call me when you get this message… I talked to Phil… um-just call me as soon as you get this.
Shawn presses the flash button and starts to dial her cell phone number but decides to just wait for her to call him.
Shawn: She's probably with Mimi and I'd rather not have Mimi listening in when I talk to Belle.
Shawn sits down at his desk, opens his computer and logs onto the internet to pass time waiting for Belle to call him back. He smiles when he sees that Sweetblu has written him back.

Dear Clueless1
Hey there! Sorry to hear you didn't have any fun on your vacation, but if it makes you feel any better, I don't think it could have possibly been any worse than mine was! Don't worry, I don't mind you asking personal advice, I just don't know if I'm a good person to be giving out advice… I don't exactly have an active love life J but I'll try to help! I can't exactly speak for your friend, but I will answer the question you asked me…
If I had a really good friend who was actually attracted to me would I want to know? YES! I think that if I found out that a really good friend of mine was attracted to me I would be thrilled. I mean if you are already good friends with her she might be happy to know you feel that way… Unless of course she has a boyfriend… Does she?
I don't think I would be uncomfortable knowing, because if we are friends there has to be a reason, I mean we would obviously like each other's company or we wouldn't be friends…would we? Does this make any sense? Does this help you at all? I don't think it is silly at all and I hope she likes you back!
Well, that's my "female perspective" on the situation. Too bad I'm not the lucky girl! Just kiddingJ and about ruining the friendship… if you are really good friends, I don't think it would ruin it. I'm sure you'd be able to get past it.
I do know exactly how you feel; too bad I don't take my own advice! My best friend is my crush too. J
Let me know how it goes,
Sweet Dreams,

Shawn smiles as he finishes reading her email.
Shawn: Yeah, now I just need to work up the courage to tell Belle.
He slowly types a reply to SweetBlu

Dear Sweetblu,
For not having an active love life, you sound pretty smart. No she doesn't have a boyfriend, you actually make perfect sense, it really does help me, BUT I'm still afraid to tell her. Now I just have to work up the courage to tell her that I'm crazy about her.
It's getting so bad I'm actually having dreams about her, doing things I'm sure she wouldn't do in real life, if you know what I mean. I had a really vivid dream last night and every time I look at her I see her like she was in the dream. It's making me crazy!
So tell me about your crush. Why don't you take your own advice? Does he not seem to feel the same way? You are lucky you're the girl - less pressure. You're not expected to make the first move. I guess I sound a little old-fashioned. I hope to hear from you soon. I'll keep you posted,
Clueless1

Shawn sent the email and started surfing the internet.
Meanwhile at Dot.Com Belle and Mimi are seated across from each other in a booth.
Mimi: Yeah, so I talked to Shawn yesterday.
Belle: Oh. You did?
Mimi: Yeah, so did you ever talk to him about me… you know like you said you would in Paris?
Belle: Uh… Not yet, I haven't really had the chance.
Mimi: Oh really, then what did you two talk about yesterday when I saw you over there at that counter?
Belle: Um… we talked about a few things. Personal stuff… I don't think Shawn would like it if I… I mean… we were talking about our families and stuff… I can't really remember it all. When you left I left, so I never had a chance to say anything… I know she can tell I'm lying… I should just tell her the truth…
Mimi: So, you are still going to talk to him right?
Belle: Okay, What do you want me to say?
Mimi: Just tell him you think it would be really great if he and I… you know… dated. I mean… he did kiss me, so even though he says it didn't mean anything. I know he's just… you know… he's afraid I'll reject him.
Belle: Huh? He said it didn't mean anything?
Mimi: Well yeah, sorta… I mean he said he was sorry for leading me on or something, but I just know he was going to tell me he likes me as more than a friend, but then my dad came, so I had to go.
Belle: He said something about liking you as more than a friend?
Mimi: Well, no… but I'm sure he would have if my dad hadn't shown up.
Belle: You really think so?
Mimi: Yes. Why are you giving me the third degree? It's like you don't believe me.
Belle: No, it's not that… I just got a different impression when I talked to him yesterday. That's all.
Mimi: I'm sure you just misunderstood. So you'll talk to him?
Belle: I don't know Meems.
Mimi: Please. You know I'd do it for you…
Belle: Okay, if he likes you that way I'll tell him what a great girl you are.
Mimi: Thanks Belle, you're a great friend!
Belle: (Smiles at her weakly) yeah.
Mimi spots Jan looking through the CD's
Mimi: Oh, you know what? I forgot I told Jan I'd work on our project tonight. I'm sorry; maybe we can rent movies another night.
