Mimi and Phillip woke form their night of unbridled passion with a phone call early the next morning.
Phillip answered. “Oh hi Daisy. What? When?” Phillip rubbed his eyes. “Yeah, okay, I’ll be there.” Phillip hung up the phone, and looked at Mimi.
“What does she want?” Mimi asked bitterly. Though making love to Phillip had stopped their argument, it had not eased her suspicions.
“There was an early meeting called, and I need to be there,” Phillip said. He got out of bed and walked towards the bathroom, turning on the shower.
“So you’re going?” Mimi asked, hurt that Phillip wasn’t going to spend the morning.
“Mimi, this is my job, I have to show up,” Phillip told his agitated fiancé.
“But you’re the boss, can’t you call off the meeting?” Mimi pleaded.
“I may be the boss, but I still need to go to the meetings, especially if my presence is requested.”
“Oh so, you are going to make love to me and then leave? What am I? A hooker?” Mimi’s eyes blazed.
“Mimi, I don’t have time for this, I have to go,” Phillip snapped, leaving the room and leaving the argument, to get ready for work.
Mimi was amazed at Phillip’s behavior. “So he’ll go to her whenever she calls, but he wont stay with me when I ask him? Fine!” Mimi got out of bed, and put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She took out a Louis Vuitton duffle bag from her closet and packed it quickly with a few personal items, and left the house as quickly as she could, trying to avoid a run-in with Phillip.
She found herself at Belle and Shawn’s penthouse. The sun was just rising, and Mimi figured that Belle would still be home, so she decided to visit her friend.
Belle opened the door, still in her pajamas. “Mimi, what are you doing here?”
“I’m leaving Phillip,” she announced.
“What? Why?” Belle was surprised; she didn’t have any clue that Mimi and Phillip were having problems.
“He’s having an affair!” Mimi shouted, and then began to cry.
Belle pulled Mimi inside, and sat her down on the couch.
Mimi continued to wail, no matter what Belle did to console her.
Reasoning did not work with Mimi when she was this upset. She cried and cried for what felt like forever. She ended up crying herself to sleep. Belle covered her with a throw blanket, and the phone rang.
Mimi immediately woke, “If it’s Phillip tell him that I don’t want to talk to him!” Mimi said matter-of-factly.
“Hello,” Belle answered, but it wasn’t Mimi, it was Shawn.
“Hey babe, did I catch you at a good time?” Shawn asked, this time he sounded tired.
“Not really, Mimi’s here she is leaving Phillip,” Belle explained.
“Why? What happened?” Shawn asked.
“I’m not sure, but what’s going on with you? I didn’t really understand what you were telling me last night.”
“Oh I got great news, I ran into my commanding officer when I got here, and he told me that he wanted to talk to me. He pulled me in his office, and told me that he was going to contact me this week. With everything going on in the Middle East, I am being recalled into duty! I’m so excited! But don’t worry I am not going into duty until after our wedding and honeymoon, I made sure that I didn’t ruin any of your plans.”
“But Shawn, what about the babies?” Belle asked again.
“What about them? Are you all okay?” Shawn asked concerned about his soon to be wife and children.
“Shawn, we are all fine. But I am due only a few weeks after our honeymoon, will you be here for their birth?” Belle asked, she was beginning to get upset. The thought of not having Shawn there terrified her.
“Honey, I don’t know, I will probably still be in the states, and I can fly back once you go into labor, or even before. Don’t worry about it Belle, everything will be okay,” Shawn said reassuringly. But Belle was not easily swayed.
“Shawn when are you coming home?” Belle asked.
“At the end of the week.”
