This forum is a discussion group for those interested in the great explorer, James Cook.
Discussion includes, family history, news, and any questions or answers you might have on the man who explored the lands of Australia, Tahiti, and Hawaii.
I've recently had to delete all messages in this forum. There were literally five or six years of really good discussion, but going through and deleting spam from Lisa Williams and such was nearly impossible. I'm working to keep this resource clean and may be switching to a new forum service soon. Please excuse the mess. -Nate
Hi, I can't pretend to be a massive fan of Cook but I was just hoping to get a little advise from some people who are...my husband is a mad Cook fan and I'm hoping to get him a book(one of the old ones with maps etc) for his birthday...I didn't realise there was going to be about a billion out there...so my question is...if you loved Captain Cook and you loved the very old books about Cook...which book would you most want?? Some of the ones I'm considering are:
1. NARRATIVE OF CAPTAIN JAMES COOK'S VOYAGES ROUND THE WORLD; WITH AN ACCOUNT OF HIS LIFE DURING THE PREVIOUS AND INTERVENING PERIODS: ALSO, AN APPENCIX, DETAILING THE PROGRESS OF THE VOYAGE AFTER THE DEATH OF CAPTAIN COOK.
Milner Edition. [Kippis]
2. The Explorations of Captain James Cook in the Pacific, as Told by Selections of His Own Journals, 1768-1779.
Cook, James. Edited by A. Grenfell Price. Illustrated by Geoffrey C. Ingleton
3. Captain Cook, Maclean, Alistair [1923-1987]
Thanks so much...
Michelle

Hi There everyone,
I'm Dan from Australia but living in England at the moment so don't let the email address throw you. I have come accross this web site by mistake but would like some help with something that has been driving me nuts for years. My Grandmother is Naomi Cook (Maiden name) Her father was Frank Cook the chauffeur for the governor of Australia when the Sydney Harbour Bridge was built(I think the Governor's name was Lord Stone something, He drove the govenor across the bridge when it was compleated). Frank Cook was an aircraft engineer from England who was given permission to be the top man for Rolls Royce in Austalia. He is supposedly related to Cptn James Cook. My Grandmother grew up in the grounds of government house in Melbourne. They lived in a cottage that still stands to this day behind the huge building, I know this because when i was a boy she took me there and knew some of the groundkeepers which let us into places the regular public can't go.
Anyhow my grandmother says that we are Captain Cooks decendants, I got teased at school for saying this and would like to know if you can help me sort out this info for substance or where I can find more info. Do these names ring a bell to anyone? Thanks for your time,
Looking forward to hearing from you. Daniel White.

My husband is somewhere on the family tree of cook. He is a great grandfather x (?), to my husband and his father. It is fun looking at James picture, it looks so much like my father-in-law, and his father. I would like to find out where they and our children lay on the family tree.

sailed up the coast, the rock's shimmered like glass!!!
He named Mt Dromerdary at the same point.

my hobby business Glasshouse rocks[golf at]
Many thanks,
