Captain James Cook: "The World's Explorer" Forum

This forum is a discussion group for those interested in the great explorer, James Cook.

Discussion includes, family history, news, and any questions or answers you might have on the man who explored the lands of Australia, Tahiti, and Hawaii.

I've recently had to delete all messages in this forum. There were literally five or six years of really good discussion, but going through and deleting spam from Lisa Williams and such was nearly impossible. I'm working to keep this resource clean and may be switching to a new forum service soon. Please excuse the mess. -Nate

Hey Nate is this still your forum???

by Friend of Nates (no login)

Who's forum is this anyway Nate?

This Lisa Williams character first abuses you for deleting all her SPAM, and then has a go at those people that advertise their websites/businesses on this forum... NOW SHE'S DOING THE SAME THING!

If you've got your own website Lisa go and use it and put all your thoughts in your own forum. Nate wants to keep this forum for STRICTLY Cook related material. Not material lifted from the daily newspaper. Are you a wanna-be Alan Jones or something?? Respect that or go elsewhere, no one is forcing you to be here.

Fianlly you may be Cook's long lost distance relative but it doesn't make you the ONLY authority on the man. Let others air their views as well.

It's all about showing a little respect girl. I'll show you some when you show Nate (and others) some.

Iran

by Lisa Williams (no login)

Death Penalty.

1. I do agree with the death penalty for the people involved in september 11.

* I am not a fan of killing people and I take it very seriously as to the crime. I don't think anyone in the world would say that september 11 was justified.

2. IRAN - I believe Iran has spoken out against Israel and are causing problems. The do not have a right to economically bully surrounding nations and to want people wipped off the face of the planet. I do agree the enrichment program needs to be stopped. I do support the US in this matter. I would want to reframe from a strike but pressure does need to be placed.

Web Page

by Lisa Williams (no login)

I will link to this page, and work on mine as well. The information on this site is very good. The forum never had any decent information the actual site however does.

my web site is

www.captaincooklaw.com.au

I have had problems viewing it, it has only recently been added to the net. Look and you will find.

I will make one apology. I don't think this site made any money. It may have depending on how it's set up. However I think it is others that make the money off the advertising.

Quite frankly the Priminister isn't doing his job if a memo giving that information isn't important. Why are you priminister then? Especially when your at war.

AWB

by Lisa Williams (no login)

I heard on the radio today that a member of the wheat board said that he had directly told Alexander Downer about the kick backs. I know the Alexandra Downer was not the only person.

1. I don't believe Alexander Downer can be punished if it is quite clear others a lying.

2. Alexander Downer and anyone else who new should be held responsible. The Priminister knew.

3. I can't understand why we would go to war and be directly giving money to the person where at war with. This doesn't make sense. I waiting for an explaination that makes sense.

_____________________________________________________________________

I like Mr Downer because quite frankly he was honest. He did not bring attention to the issue but when the issue was brought up he was honest. I feel sorry that he has been put in a position which quite frankly it seems many need to be put in. I would support someone who has integrity to admit that it was common knowledge. That it was not only one company. Was it right, no! Does the fact that there are 20 other companies who did the same make AWB right, no. Should the people who knew and also knew about war be held responsible?

If you look at it this way:

Our government had full knowledge of AWB which was providing millions of dollar to Saddam. That is millions of dollars to spend on military equipment to kill our own soldiers. Does that make sense. Quite frankly no. If Mr Howard was in the military, would he think twice?

He brought back a HUGE amount

by Lisa Williams (no login)

I recently stepped foot on the Endeavour in Melbourne. On cooks first voyage he had Joseph Banks on board. Banks had sketches made and took collections of plants and animals to the extent that the captains courters were strewn with specimens. Each night for dinner everything would have to be put away. Sciencists have been studying these specimens for decades, held in the Natural History Museum in London. The plants would have been classified and studied at length. Scientists have learnt a huge amount from specimens it is from this foundation that we can conclude that Gondwana existed, due to plants found in different parts of the world etc.

Cook brought back and Elizabeth Cook housed samples from throughout the world, native artifacts, plant specimens that was what was collected.

Improvements in the defence force!! Australia

by Lisa Williams (no login)

All I can say for the Australian Defence force is there has just been a launch of better equipment to stop shrapnal damage to our men and WOMEN. Yes there are men and WOMEN in the Australian defence force. I would not be helping those women by joining, I would be placing them at risk. A better uniform sounds like a good start.

I feel so much safer now.

by Lisa Williams (no login)

I feel so much safer now the Prince Harry is in the elite Squad and going to strip clubs.

I indeed feel much safer as an Australian Citizen knowing that Harry wore the swatz sticker arm and is in a elite armed forces. YEAH!!

I said I would join the police and as a police officer or as part of the coast gaurd I would remove the Aboriginals form the Gardens in Melbourne.

As a police officer I would not frequent strip joints. Harry is so much better than me I have to say. I really respect him as a person for his concern for his fellow female citizens well being. That was showed in the strip joint. Maybe he should have poked some money down the g string.

What I'd like to do

by Lisa Williams (no login)

I would like to approach the government for a grant.

A grant to work with an Architect to finish off Birrarungmarr etc.

I would love to attend a sustainability conference in August unfortunately I don't have the money to do it.

I would very much like to work on building a few small prototype buildings around the front or back of birrarungmarr, three different designs higlighting 'good' building practice, grey water recycliing etc. I would like to establish an education centre along with the buldings. I know the perfect Architect or three.

I wouldn't mind also including around the perimeter some Australian animals from Healsville Sanctuary. Also to complete the project with the bridge across from Birrarungmarr to the Boat Houses.

I do believe the camp or Aboriginals in the Gardens should be removed.

I'm asking to work. I'm asking to do something very useful.

I wonder whether people will support me. As I supported last year the fact that without Volunteers society couldn't function properly. The arguement was in reference to a comment that Peter Costello made about every good and service being able to be tracked in the economy and his lack of respect for volunteers. That is how the debate of volunteers occured. I started making comment that without the SES and other volunteers we would have major problems.

I am asking to be supported, I believe it would be a fantastic project.

Prince Harry front line 5 years?

by Lisa Williams (no login)

Before you start treating females like sex objects you might like to do a bit of reading. Reading about women who have put themselves on the 'line'.

I would like to point out that it was men who came up with the most amazing was to kill each other. It was predominantly me. Read Hitlers scientists. Read about the me who started playing with gas and never sore the men they exposed the torture to. See people throffing at the mouth with blood. The scientists, didn't see what there science had produced.

One scientist who was working with hilters scientists on the the rockets I believe started working in the UK. He worked with Rosalind Franklin (sp) break the DNA code. He later specialisied in the ethics of science.

I think Harry should read of the Australia women who had to kneel on the beaches of singapore, whilst they were shot in the head during the second world war. He should read about the women who were starved and turned into prostitues during the second world war.

I knew there was no way I'd ever want to join the armed forces, and Harry just proved it. He proved that 'going to a strip joint' is indeed part of the 'experience'. He can have it all to himself. I hope he has a loving relationship with his girlfriend!!!

Harry is a cutey

by Kristy (no login)

You blame poor Harry, but don't allot ANY "blame" to the women that allow themselves to be treated as so called "sex objects". Some women enjoy the money and attention. I know I do. I work in a high class brothel in Sydney so that I can have a good life whilst I support myself through uni. My friends slave away packing supermarket shelves 24/7 and for what?? I earn in a night what it takes them all week to earn. So you think it's the guys using the girls?? you've got it so wrong there sister! We're using the men, men who are dumb enough to pay good money for a root. It's a safe and drug free environment where I work, and all the girls use protection and are tested regularly for STI's. In fact I can say what I am doing is a hell of a lot safer than what most other girls like yourself do of a weekend - the guys they go home with from the club don't get inspected. The girls aren't tested, and some are probably not using protection. So you think I'm the dummy?? you can't be more wrong!

Harry rocks! leave him alone.
