seatbelts in a 1949 Super?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting shoulder-style seatbelts in a vintage car, i.e. a '40s Buick.
I know that people usually retrofit the older cars with lap belts, but what about shoulder harness seatbelts? Any comments or suggestions on this?
I would appreciate any sort of help that can be offered.
