Although most games seem to work for me on UAE, I cannot get SOWS 96/97 or Pirates to work - they load ok up until disk 2 is required - after it asks for the 2nd disk I can't get it to go any further, even though I have the 2nd disk in df1: The problem seems to be specific for these games since I can get other 2 disk games to work. I have also tried downloading these from several different sources and the result is always the same.
SWOS 96/97 in particular needs disk 1 from an older version of SWOS, eg. 95/96 or the first SWOS. Load in SWOS 96/97 as normal and after the title screen the disk propmt asks for 'OLD DISK 1'. Try using just one drive and following the prompting, also try using 3 drives, 'df0:new disk 1' 'df1:new disk 2' and 'df2:old disk 1' inserted. Not sure about Pirates.
