First, let me say - when I was younger, we had an Amiga1000. Man, that thing kicked the cr*p out of any Xbox, PS2, or anything.
My dad owned probably close to 1000 games, and I was a lucky kid.
Now, every once in a while, I get my nostalgia kick.
Two years ago, I bought a load of Amiga equipment off ebay (hence, name Amigasearch!).
Now, I have all that amiga stuff in storage. So, I figured being lazy, i bought AmigaForever and will download games I ALREADY own.
Now, my question.

One problem with the Amiga, me being an impatient person, and there are so many games to play!, is the load times.
I tried Winuae but was only dissapointed with one thing - that emulation is exact - loading the games.

I really dont have time to wait 5 minutes for the Shadow of the beast intro page!

Also, when I had the amiga1000, it was ok to at least listen to the music the disc drives produce. Fond memories, waiting for the game to load....

So, any advice on how I can adjust speed on load ups (and most games I love are not HD games.... so that may not be the solution, unless I can put all games on HD). This would REALLY help. Thanks.

Quick tips

Hi

This applies to WinUAE 0.8.22 Release 9 and maybe others.

First make sure you can run your game normally, before attempting any of the below tweaks. Pointless doing this if the game does not work, Yes ?

(1) To speed up the floopy loading speed, on the floppy tab move the floppy speed slider to 'TURBO'

Test game.

(2) Under the CPU TAB, select "Fastest possible, but maintain chipset timing"

Test game.

(3) See if you can install the game to a "Hard Drive Image" using 'WHDload' . This tool can be found here http://www.whdload.de/ and various game installers can be found here http://www.whdload.de/download.html

Hope this helps.

N.B. I am just a long time Amiga User/Fan - not an expert.
