WinUAE too slow with sound enabled!

Hi,

I was just wondering and hoping if someone know the answer to this:
Why is my WinUAE peforming awfully slow when I enable sound? Don't notice it too well on 2D stuff, though I do notice that Workbench uses a much longer time to load from the hardfile.
But for 3D games such as XtremeRacing, it's not even playable when I got sound enabled, but once I disable it it runs with full smoothness!
It's like going from 2-3 fps to 50+, just by disabling the sound.

Should it be like this, or is there a particular setting on the Sound page which I should consider with great care?

The version of WinUAE I'm using is 0.8.22 R9. But this problem seemed to occur long before this version though. Actually, the problem started to show up after 0.8.21 R4, so I've been sort of stranded with this version, since it's the latest one I can use where I can have sound enabled and it will run at full speed.

My computer is btw a:

Athlon XP2800+
512MB RAM
Geforce 4 Ti4400
Audigy 2

Anyone knows what is up, are experiencing the same and knows how to fix it? I'm greatly thankfull!

Regards,

- Pr0t0n

Could it have anything to do with the sound buffer size? try turning this down a tad to see if it gets smoother, I know in one version I was using it did the same to me.

Also I find any version after 8.8.8r is very slow in loading up, be it games or workbench, something I've never worked out so I use 8.8.8r unless something needs a later version.
