I would like to ask the group a question, if i may.
Has anyone ever managed to get rainbow islands to work on ANY emulator ever?

if so, i was wondering if this wizard could perhaps hint me towards how he/she did it.

Short answer: No
This game doesn't work yet. You can always check the game-list at "Back to the Roots" which contains compatibility infos for over 4200 Amiga games. It's updated frequently.

Well, no, this game doesn't work in any emulator. I managed to make it work in my 2.05 Amiga 600, so, Drake, I think you could make it work in your 1200. Try softkicking it into 1.3 anytime you can't make a game work. I always use TUDE with the -degrade option also activated.

Yes

I really like to use TUDE and have been for some time. Only problem is that it conflicts with the Noborders program I've downloaded.

If I use TUDE to degrade my system I usually also disable all cashes, I need to do this to make games like Pinball fantasies work because otherwise the keyboard will stop responding.

Hmmm

Don't use that thing, have you tried NewIcons?

Besides, once you degrade and softkick, it reboots, so it shouldn't do anything with NoBorders

I've tried but...

December 31 2000, 7:34 PM

I've tried Newicons on an emulated Workbench.
I didn't really like the new environment, and seeing that it slowed down the emulation conciderably I didn't want to use it on my Amiga as it is a raw A1200 with 2 MB ram.

As for TUDE rebooting. It's only when you check "Hard reset" that it hard resets. Otherwise it softresets, and some programs are still in memory. I don't know too much about Amigas, but I do know that if a game crashes with a Software failure message. You can turn off the computer and start it within 3 seconds again (which isn't enough time to remove all info from the ram) and you will not boot properly. Instead you'll get the same software error message.

I'm going to live with the borders, and maybe try Birdie (If I can get it to work, it didn't last time)

I didn't know that thing was kind of resident. I Shouldn't use such a prog.
There's no need to turn off your amiga for some time to make a cold-reset. If you press the reset sequence again when the screen first changes its greay color, at boot, it will perform a cold reset. Give it a try, any virus, residents, RAD drives or anything, will die.

Birdie is a workbench hack for Cybergrafx cards.

OK

Well I like to use the hard reset command under tude to Hard reset my Amiga, it's faster and easier, but when you hard reset you can't boot up in Kick1.3 since the kick.rom is cleared out of the memory, and the original rom is loaded into memory again.

...but you need a certain crack of the game, WinUAE 0.88R8 and Kick 3.0.
You can download this version along with the config file at this page:

Have fun !
