I just saw on the 'net today where the town of BROOKSVILLE, Florida has a new dress code that REQUIRES city workers to WEAR UNDERWEAR and use deodorant.

The city council in Brooksville, north of Tampa recently approved a dress code that instructs employees to observe "strict personal hygiene."

It also prohibits EXPOSED underwear, clothing with foul language, "sexually provocative" clothes and piercings anywhere except the ears.

It also stated that repeat offenders can be fired!

Kinda sucks. doesn't it ?!?

One thing I agree about is using deoderant. I did use it, but after work, maybe not, especially on the weekend.
I don't have to worry about exposed underwear, and IF I had any piercings, they would not be exposed at work.

Olberman had a piece on this the other day. Like he said, I guess they will have to wear the underwear on the outside so everyone is sure. Silly time wasting law.

I certainly think this will be a VERY difficult law to enforce, and probably just end up causing a lawsuit or two to be filed by disgruntled employees.

How are they going to assure that all the employees wear UW? are they going to hire UW inspectors?

I doubt there is a concern about whether or not people wear underwear per se. It probably arose from someone seeing a woman's nipples through her blouse. Since it would be discrimination to require women to wear bras and not men, they just make the blanket requirement of wearing underwear. However, a woman who didn't want to wear a bra could claim she was wearing panties and was thus wearing underwear. For the state to claim further that she needed a bra also would open them to the same discrimination claim. In the end the requirement may not have any legal standing, but few want to fight the state in court in order to keep their job and will just comply with the the requirement.

What next, everyone must wear vest and socks?
