WEAR RING

.....what factors should i use in determining when to replace my wear ring...i inspected it today, there are scratches no "groves" but the paint is gone all the way around the wear ring and with the stator out the shaft moves ever so slightly.... i get paranoid about my lake time and i do not want any thing to get in the way of that. SO i guess what i am asking is what are the affects of leaving it the way it is and how hearty are these parts.....when do i know with out a doubt that it is time so spend the $.....is reg valv hi performance gear lube ok to use in the stator? Thanks for your time!!!
