I spent the day with our Doo yesterday waxing her to perfection. Such a nice date LOL! However, its getting more difficult to wax the topside than I remember... with middle age and all setting in
I noticed the glue on the weather stripping is starting to let go in some spots. And, the driver's side hatch latch mounts are loose. I found minor long spider cracks behind the drivers seat. The back hatch won't popup unless someone is lightly lifting it. Once it starts to open... it opens fine. Also, the inside of the bottom of the hull is stained where water resides during the summer. I even found a few very minor spots with gel coat scratches. All and all very minor items, but when you take the time to wax the entire boat... you might be surprised what things you find that reminds you yer jet is going on 9 years old.
All this has got me thinking about what else could be aging and might need repair and/or replacing. For instance, the throttle and steering linkages and cables. When doo we replace these items... when they break? And, I know I'll get killed for this one, but we still have our original battery. Batteries don't normally work but one day after the warranty expires... this battery has lived twice as long. I really should change it out this year.
We should create a list of items to replace as prevention rather than waiting for them to break.
