A bunch of friends and I travelled to the CNE in Toronto today to see Elvis perform in the Movie Magic show at the Ricoh Centre. We attended the 2 pm show. We got there about 50 minutes early to ensure we got close to the ice surface, but by the time of the show the place was pretty much packed to the limit. We weren't too sure what to expect, but had heard Elvis' part was only about 2 and a half minutes long. We were pleasantly surprised that he came out almost immediately as part of a group number! He participated in a few of the group numbers, at one point skating with Maxime-Billy Fortin, which was very cool to see. Elvis' solo comes about 3/4 way through the show, and it is set to the Kill Bill music. I can't even describe how great it was to see him skating again....he looked very focused, but also very happy. He grinned and gestured at our section of the audience a few times on his way by because we were making quite the fuss, LOL. At the very end the skaters do a lap where they give high fives. Elvis is billed as the star of the show and he is in every respect, but the show itself is much better than I expected it to be. The guys and girls work very hard doing the acrobatics, the aerial gymnastics, the skating (of course), and the singing as well. I was impressed! I highly recommend you make the trek down to see this show if you have a chance. It is free with your CNE admission and runs daily, at 2 pm and again at 7 pm. If you don't live in Toronto, you can watch Elvis' solo on You Tube.
We said a brief 'hi' to Elvis after the show, at the stage door. There was only one other fan there, who brought Heart and Soul for an autograph. Elvis seems very happy, healthy and fit.
