That's actually one of the messages of nudism - your body doesn't have to be perfect and you don't have to fit some "image" to enjoy all over sun and the pleasures of social nudism. In fact once you attend a nudist event or two you'll find that those attending are just like you -- not models or buff young hunks and hunkettes. Most are just ordinary folks who have learned that it's ok to shed their clothes and not be overly concerned about their "flaws" which arent' flaws at all, of course. You'll find nudists of all descriptions and anyone expecting to encounter nothing but raving cover girls and cover guys will be quite surprised. But ordinary folks will be quite gratified to see that nudists are simply a cross section of the people you find in any mall - we're America. But without clothes.
Lake Edun is a good place to give nudism a try - since it's a nudist club you'll not have any qualms about "is it ok to do this?" It's perfectly ok at Lake Edun. There's a sandy beach and lake for sunning and swimming and also plenty of grassy areas where you can spread a towel or blanket and be alone if that's more your style. But around the beach you'll find others and that's the fun - mixing in with the regulars - getting to know a few people and acclimating to the idea of being nude in the company of others. Worth the day visit fees - and remember anyone you encounter there is also at a nudist camp so you're all on equal footing - have not the slightest worry about being seen by someone you know. In fact, sort of hope you're seen by someone you know since at that moment you'll have just found new common ground with an old acquantance.
Good luck - give it a try. Most who do come enjoy the experience and find it worth repeating.
If you like the "safety" of crowds and numbers then Return to Edun is a good choice. Sort of pricey but there'll be lots of people - it's not a typical weekend at Edun - the place is crowded for those 3 days.
