new guy with cold feet

Hello everyone,I am a rookie at nudism and quite frankly I am scared to death to try it. I guess I consider myself a closet nudist. I guess the thing that scares me the most is that I might have an "embarrassing moment" if you know what I mean, and I wouldnt want someone to think that I am a perv or something.I drove by the cove today and I think I was at the right spot, but I didnt see the sign with the HC that was in the instructions. There were 2 pickup trucks and a car at the entrance where I thought the cove was. I drove by and then the road came to a circle and I turned around. I chickened out.I have some questions if someone wouldnt mind answering.1. What age range usually shows up at the cove. Not that it matters, but I might feel better if I knew there were people my age(35). 2. Is this adults only or do people bring the kids. The reason I asked is that I have a 17 year old cousin who is interested in socializing with other nudist, but would feel better if someone his age or younger was there to swim with or hang out. He is like me and scared to try this, but wants to.3. If I could finally get over my fear of trying this, would someone be willing to meet me up there sometime so I dont just show up and not know what to expect? Thanks in advance for any responses. You can either post here or email me.

Joe, The Scared but interested Rookie

cold feet

Joe, I too once had cold feet. I think the best way to deal with this is just to say the heck with it and go try it. As to your questions.... I think the ave. age should be around early to mid 40's with some on both sides ( at cove ) I myself am 40. I have been going to the cove for about 5-6 yrs and love it. I have only seen 1 cpl that brought a child, and that was a baby, but not to say you can not bring a 17 yr old. I will be going up on Mon. or Tues. when I get up there. I always check the message board before I head up so if you want to hook up and go thats cool.
Now for the big Question about the embarrassing problem, I had this concern also but have found that it is not as much of a problem as thought, If you will bring a hand cloth you can cove yourself untill it passes or lay on you stomache untill then. I dont think anyone would say anything unless you flaunt yourself. You might try the cove first, before you go to one of the swims or any other acctivity, just so you get used to being around others nude.
I hope I have helped you overcome your fear, and invite anyone else with help to add to this.
Remember the most important thing is, that we are all out to enjoy the sun or the company of others without the restraints of clothes, and that there is nothing sexual about this.
Enjoy the sun, Brett

new guy

Hello Joe

Just wanted to confirm that you were likely at the right place - if you saw two pickups and a car and were at the place on King Road where there's a sharp right turn and a sharp left turn before the straightaway that leads to the circle turnaround - then you saw the right spot.

There's a gate with a single strand of wire rope - the small "HC" stake should be alongside the left gate post - walk straight down that lane then veer left when you get just beyond the trees. There's even a mowed path now so that'll lead you to the Cove.

About "first time" anxiety - don't worry it's common and it goes away in about 5 minutes once you've disrobed. Oh, you'll still have a feeling of being nude among others but most find that is shifts from slight nervousness to a very pleasant feeling of sun and breeze on your whole body - always amazes me how much different it feels when just a few ounces of fabric are removed.

For most there's not going back once you've tried it in a comfortable setting.

Dick W.

Hey Joe,

You should take advantage of every opportunity to go to the cove. Everyone has had accidental moments before. It sure wouldn't scare most of us. I hope to be there this Wednesday late afternoon. Hope you can join me. There will probably be others with the nice weather we are supposed to have.

Try Lake Edun

Hey Cold Feet,
Sounds like you are very normal. Like others have pointed out, the "first time" anxiety quickly passes once you have tried it.

If you are interested in meeting more people, you might try Lake Edun near Topeka. It's a beautiful setting that they really take care of. Typically, on a weekend there will be dozens of people there. It might also be a spot where your nephew feels more comfortable, also. There are lots of trails where you (or he) can get away if either of you wish to do some exploring. The only draw back is that it is more formal ... you need to sign-in and they ask you to help pay for its upkeep. Too bad there aren't any C-O parks maintained by the state.
