This Sunday May 16th, 2004 is the annual Bay to Breakers race out in San Francisco - also known now as the Bare to Breakers Race. Each year about 100,000 runners and walkers take part in the 12K race - including a couple of hundred totally nude participants who're cheered on by the crowd and their fellow racers.
The website for the Bare to Breakers group is:

If you can't get to SFO for the race - there's a "make up" edition held locally here in the KC area every summer - the Heartland Sun Run.
This year it's Sun Run 4 - the Race of Apollo and the race takes place Sunday July 11th at 10 am. Our local edition website and registration page is at:

Can't run? Who cares - it's still a race if you run it, walk it, jog it or stroll it. 5K which amounts to about 3.5 miles - it's a fun hour in the sun with lots of door prizes, medals for the winners and pot luck lunch after the race. There's also swimming beach and hiking trails at the race site.
Details provided to those who register - the location is in the KC area - about an hour from KC.
Check it out - the costs are reasonable - about $15 total in race and host fees. Couples registering together get a break on race fees.
If you have race questions contact Doug at sunrun@kcsky.net .
One more "coming event" -- the next Heartland swim takes place Friday May 21st, 2004.
