Run of Apollo Weather

In words: Sunday: Mostly sunny, with an afternoon high around 92. South southwest wind between 9 and 15 mph.

The picture:

The timeline of temperature, dewpoint and wind for the race site:

Race begins at 10 am, Sunday July 11th - temperature 82 degrees rising to about 85 by the end of the race for walkers. Dewpoint, the green line on the graph, 68 degrees which is a typical summertime humidity and winds southwest 15 mph during the race - meaning it'll feel like a better breeze for the first half of the race when you're headed south into the wind; less of the natural cooling for the trip home with the wind across your butt. A true tail wind. Chances of precip almost nil -- should be a sunny, warm, breezy day - and the lake later on will feel great for swimming then the beach for sun and conversation. Marge's Beachfront Massage Shop will likely be set up right there at lakeside during the afternoon.

The race starts at 10 am so it's good to arrive around 9 or 9 15 to get parked, sign in, stretch and be ready to hit the starting line at 10 am.

We've had a good show of visitors to the Apollo website - about 800 visits in the past week and a half - online publicity aided that considerably along with the Pitch article. Lots of people know of the club and the race who'd never heard of either before this week.

If you're one of the newcomers to this message board we'd love to hear from you - just hit reply and let us know where you're from - always fun to see the world wide reach of the internet.

You can use a real name or nickname and even though the message entry form asks for your email addy - you can enter anything that's in proper format such as MYOB@MYOB.com.

By the way - next Heartland swim is Friday July 16th, 2004 here in the Kansas City Missouri area. That's this coming Friday.

If you're new to the club and the monthly swims please email John, the club's Activity Guy, at hnclub@kcsky.net for info on the swim. We ask the same information of all newcomers: your full name, area where you live and a couple of lines about your interest in social nudism.

Any SunRun questions? Late comers who'd like to let Doug know they'll be attending? If that's you please email Doug directly at sunrun@kcsky.net or use the phone number he 1) bravely, 2) graciously or 3) foolishly provided via the Pitch article which you'll find online at: http://www.pitch.com/issues/2004-7-8/niteday3.html

Doug will be out of touch after today, Friday, as he's making a weekend of it on site. This is the time to contact him if you're a late decider or can volunteer your help or have any run related questions.

Don't forget, water, sunscreen, something simple for the pot luck table and your registration money. The host camp gets five bucks per person and the Run gets ten bucks for singles or fifteen per couple. Bring a towel or two and something to drink. There'll be water before and duing the race but you may want to bring you own malt beverage, soda pop or other refreshments.

See you at the human race - 10 am for the Race of Apollo.
