This is the eighth anniversary for nude use at Heartland Cove on Smithville Lake. I don't have an exact date of the first skinnydip at the Cove but know that on Election Day 1996 I was there and had doped out the place that summer and fall. I recall it because I'd been doing some work with the local county committee that day and then went up to the Cove at the end of the day --- cloudy but not too cold - just an odd memory of the date but it serves to nail down the year, 1996.
Didn't make much mention of the Cove for about a year - wanted to see if it was indeed remote and suited for laying out so mostly had the place to myself for a year but then put the location on the club's website and word got around via the web, word and mouth and more recently it's mentioned in some of the guides to nude beaches so it's more or less established.
I'd guess some will be there today, Saturday 11-6-04. I won't make it but would like to - getting ready for an out of town trip so don't have the spare time to get there but should be a good November opportunity to get some sun - near 70 and sunny. That's perfectly comfortable weather for laying out if you're out of the wind. Water's likely chilly unless you're on the hardy side.
Happy Anniversary Heartland Cove - eight years and counting. Hopefully it'll stay below the radar and off the Bush/Cheney/Blunt agenda for the next four years.

Yep, time flies. Thanks for being such a pioneering type and finding the place. It's a great spot: out of the way and off the beaten path, but not so much so that it's difficult to access.
