We have never been to to cove and just recently heard about it. Can you get there by boat, or is it in the shallow wooded area? I saw the directions on the website for walking in. We were thinking of going there Sunday also.
Since no one responded I thought I would. It is very shallow in that cove but I have fished there with a small boat and outboard and was able to get in there. As I recall when the water level is normal I could walk some distsnce into the lake from shore and the water was only to my knees. Hope this helps.

Yes you can reach the cove by boat, however there are several areas in the cove where the tree due to the lake being up will be just slightly underwater so I would not advise speeding through the area in a boat by any means. The tree lines are all more or less crescent shaped the area directly in front of the trail you walk into the cove is crescent shaped with trees running to the shore line on the right side of the lake if looking at it from the trail, so left side if on a boat coming in from the main part of the lake. Just be very careful if you boat in as many of the trees and snag trees will be just barely above the waters surface or just under it. If I get out of work early enough tommorrow and the weather cooperates, my family is planning on heading up to the cove as well. (Hope to be no later than 3 to 3:30)
The normal water level is about 860.5 to 861.25 the lake is at 865 right now so it is up considerably from normal.
Hope you all have a good time up there if we are unable to make it up there.
Sincerely,
George Franck, Public Relations and Membership Officer of the Heartland Naturists Club
