Still looking for the Cove Count - if you go back to the main index then down to the earlier Thread on Cove Count it'd still be good to get onboard with your count of cove visits so far this year. We've got quite a few who've signed in but also quite a few regulars who haven't made an appearance - and if you want to be counted but don't want to post it just email me and I'll get your info online without specific attribution - so your wife/boss/boyfriend/mother/probation officer/job counselor won't be able to see that you've spent 43 days at Heartland Cove so far this year.

Cove Count

October 11 2005, 9:12 PM

I just ran through the Cove Count numbers and came up with 80 Cove vistor days. And if you add the number of others mentioned it would increase by about 30% to just over 100 visitor days but there's no way to know if the "sightings" may also be respresented in the initial count so that's sort of ambiguous.

I do know that there are quite few who didn't get counted - by choice or oversight so I'm sure the figure of 80 visitor days is an underestimate. But it's the only bit of documentatin we're likely to have so we'll keep it.

And if you haven't signed in yet - go back out to the Index then down to the older Cove Count thread and add your stats to be part of the count - or email me if you'd like to stay out of the limelight.

Heartland swim coming up in about 10 days - October 21st, 2005. And there will be swims again in November and December.

Never too late to join the club - you'll save a few bucks on each month's swim fee, find out about an upcoming member party, get the newsletter and support social nudism in this area. Even if you don't like joining, if you don't like "structured" groups don't hold back.

Not a lot of structure to the Heartland Naturists but enough to put on swims, runs, parties and be a voice and gathering place for people of like mind - so it's a worthy organization. Those who never join anything are welcome - and active participants are especially welcome.

Email the club at hnclub@kcsky.net and you'll hear back from Doug, George or John - same addy and advice for swim info and club membership info.

You can add 22 times for me at the Cove. I had to get out my calendar to figure out how many. I write them down next year so I won't have to figure it out. I was there 4 days in a row and 7 out of 8 when I had a weeks vacation.

Cove Count

Brent - great and thanks for checking in. You may get the Frequent Flyer award for Cove Time - the "Frequent Tanner" award maybe until somebody can trump 22 Cove Calls.

Anyway, that takes the documented Cove Count up to 102 visitor days and I know some other regulars haven't checked in so I'm confident the Visitor Day report is well over that - maybe double that but we're sticking with visits that are acknowledged here or by email relay. Thanks for the info.

Water level's still high - lake stage 865.8 ft and surface water temp 60 - that's dropping pretty fast. I'll try to get out again. I enjoy it just even in cold weather - not for swimming but just for the peace and quiet. It's pretty intersting to see the changes week to week in the aquatic plants. The milfoil seemed much less a factor as summer went on but I suspect it'll be back next sprng. And the lotus plants are dying back - the cattails are going to fluff and the heron is still an occssional visitor. Funny they're usually solitary visitors. Anybody ever see herons in pairs or groups?

As George said now that fishing is verboten due to the seasonal rules for that part of the lake he'll leave his rod and reel behind but take his binocumlars and Audubon Guide with him on future cove visits.

I haven't been to the Cove in about 6 weeks or more so my "tan" is beginning to fade. I'm about half as tan as I was during the summer.

Cove Count for my family plus a relay count and some

October 27 2005, 11:30 PM

Hi Dick and everyone else,

Well we are finally getting around to posting our total visits for our family plus we have a relay from Chad and his family (their computer is down).

Chad's family count is as follows:

3 for 15 times and 6 for 5 times

Now for my family:

Times I went by myself: 23 (beach cleaning and cleaning the full length of the road down to the public access turnaround and spending a little time down at the cove relaxing afterwards accounts for at least half of my single visits)

Times Heather and I went together but w/o the kids: 8

Times Heather and I went with the kids:10

So I guess that makes 75 user days for Chad's family and 79 user days for my family.

Plus I know of three individuals who I have met out there that don't have internet access that have been out there 4 of the times I was by myself and 2 of the times I was there with my family. So another 18 user days to top off Chad's and my family counts.
