Has anyone been going to the Cove in the last few weeks? I was there yesterday. Great weather and a nice breeze. Only one other person was there the whole I was. Over the last month when I've been there, there is only a few people who've been. Enough you can count on one hand. I haven't seen very many boaters on the lake either. Has the hot weather scared people away or the possibilty of the rangers being around? I haven't seen any rangers around when I've been there. Has the price of gas driven people away from driving to the Cove? I also havne't seen as many posts on here the last month or so about people going.

If you have any thoughts feel free to respond that's what this message board is for.

cove visit

I was there a week ago friday(the 28th)during the middle of the day there was 1 other person there when I got there but several other people came later. this was only the third time i've been there this year. It's about a forty five minute drive for me, between the price of gas and the time it takes me to get there and back I'm just not going as much as I did last year . I've never seen a ranger there.

August at the Cove

I notice every summer when it gets real hot, people quit going out in the heat. It will pick back up in September. Or when it's 80 something.

Cove Report...
Hello Brent...I met you several weeks ago at the the cove...
Since then:
I spent last Wednesday there all morning (9am--2pm) and encountered only one guy who was fully dressed and just seemed to be enjoying the scenery. He stayed for about 30 minutes and left. It was fairly cloudy that day, but I still had a relaxing time.
Made it there yesterday (Wed) for a little while in the afternoon, and didn't see anybody. The lake was really low which made for plenty of beach, and the water is still somewhat refreshing.
I have yet to see more than a handful of people there at one time and have never encountered any rangers.
Hope to get out a few more times this summer...See Ya!

Hi Brent

I agree - not as many posts about the Cove as in prior years. Any mention of law enforcement inhibits posts and visits - typically takes a month to move on beyond that and it was too hot to enjoy much of anything and the price of gas makes me take measure of whether any given trip is needed - anywhere. Not the same as in the past when you just got in the car and took off - there's a mental calc as to whether driving 15 miles is worth $2.50 or driving 44 miles (a Cove visit for me) is worth about $6.00.

Sometime the mental calc tilts toward just skipping it anymore. Sort of a sign of the times I guess. And perfectly understandable. Same and more so for a trip to Gaea or Edun from the KC area. And we'd normally drive out to Oregon to visit a daughter there but this year that calculation's resulted in dragging our feet and trying to come up with a cheaper way - so far that hasn't shown up either. So, yeah, fuel's a factor at least in my case.

Gas Prices / Cove

Maybe a vanpool or carpool would make the situation easier? I just moved to the area, but if there are several people that come from a particular area, maybe everyone could chip in for gas/wear-and-tear. Of course, as cooler weather approaches, the number of people going on any particular weekend will drop. Maybe it'd be a summertime HN sponsored thing?

My 2 cents.

Stay nude.
