Suggestions for a visitor?

Hi everybody! I live in Oakland, California and I have never been to Kansas City but I will be there next weekend (Aug. 18-20) for the A's vs. Royals series. I'm a member of the Naturist Society and have been to plenty of nude beaches and hot springs out here. On Saturday the 19th I have all day free before the 6 p.m game so I'm looking for a place to sit in the sun, read a book and go for a cool swim. It looks like Camp Gaea and Lake Edun are the top choices in your area? I would very much appreciate your recommendations or suggestions. Thanks!

Eric

I suggest you try Gaea - although it is not a naturist camp, it is naturist friendly. It is a little closer to KC and has shower facilities. If you need assistance on locating it, let me know, I will be happy to guide you through directions.

Gaea is $5 for a day pass - $10 to camp overnight. The registration area of Gaea, parking area, the dining hall area and the path to the beach are places that clothes must be worn. Once you are to the beach, then most if not all persons there will be without clothes. Remember, that since it is not a traditional naturist camp, there are many that do not understand what we as naturist believe is a "code of conduct" (items like body jewelry, sitting on a towel, etc is what I am referring to).

There is a festival at camp Gaea this weekend, Festival of Tara. This is non-exclusive event, meaning the camp is open to day visits and camping, but does mean that a portion of the camp is closed except to participants. There is a day pass rate for the festival if you would like to attend that event as well, I believe it is $30.00.

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you enjoy your stay in Kansas City.

Also,

If you go to Gaea, you need to realize that compared to Oakland, it is in the middle of nowhere. You'll need to bring everything that you'll need for the day with you. That includes food and drinks. There are no vending services at or near Gaea.

Have a great day,
Bob

Thank you, I think Gaea will be my first choice for a Saturday activity although I need some cooperation from the weatherman.

We have a number of established free nude beaches here in Northern California and the nicest ones, while not exactly "remote", are a bit of distance out of town so I'm used to carrying the full day's worth of supplies.

Eric, you are a man of the world and understand the best places do not all have chaise lounges and waiters to serve food and drink and swimming pools with clear chemically treated water. We have to bring the things we need and then enjoy what nature gave us to enjoy in the natural state. Have a great Saturday and it looks like the temperature will be more like what you are used on the West Coast.

Well Eric your trip to see the Royals and the Athletics was sort of a mixed bag for you - lost the double header Friday night but won one of them back Saturday but a threatining day Saturday. Don't know if you got to Edun or Gaea.

Hope you enjoyed the visit no matter the games and weather.

I optimistically checked the weather satellite and radar info on the internet on Saturday morning (in addition to looking out the window) but I just couldn't justify the trip out to Gaea. But KC was lots of fun -- Kaufmann Stadium was great, met lots of nice people, ate and drank well and excessively, spent time in the Westport and Plaza areas, visited a couple of museums, saw an excellent show at the Grand Emporium. So I'll do it again sometime in the future and hopefully make it to one of your clothing-optional sites then. Thanks to all for your responses and assistance!
