Today at the Lake

Hello everyone,

Well it looks like the grass got cut today, who ever it is that cuts the grass a great big THANK YOU goes out to you it is greatly appreciated that you do this every year.

I never actually made it all the way down to the lake today as I was cleaning up the entire SW KINGS HIGHWAY road area like I have done roughly every three to four months since 2004 though this year I was a little delayed as this was the first time I made it up there to do a clean up just didn't have enough time to make it down to the shoreline. Fortunately the road has be fairly trash free for the last two years every time I do the clean ups only had one 55 gallon trash bag that was only half full after collecting all the trash on and along KINGS HGWY from where it meets with F all the way out to Access 1. Saw a tire back in a big patch of poison ivy back by the V shaped cove (plan on getting this come late fall unless I can twist the Park Ranger staffs arm into getting it out of there for us.)

From what I was told by one of my friends who was also out there at the same time I was the shore line is pretty clean right now in the Heartland Cove area itself. Hopefully once the water comes down a little I can walk from access 1 (the circle drive area at the end of SW KINGS HGWY) down to the cove through the cove and on around the south side to the V shaped cove that you can see from SW KINGS RD as you are coming in and do a good shoreline cleanup again this year before the fall. Anyone that has a small trailer that they could fit a 16ft long flat bottom john boat on that would be interested in helping me out would be greatly appreciated as it seems there it always at least 2 to 3 full 55 gallon trash bags I pull out when I do the full shoreline clean up. I have the boat and a motor but no trailer or truck anymore. I generally do the full shoreline cleanup once in the early spring and then again around the end of September/start of October, I have had a couple of people help me the last 3 times that I have done the full shoreline clean up, you know who you are and I greatly appreciate your help.

I also want to thank everyone that uses the cove and helps keep the cove area and the field area clean of trash for their help in doing so, the Rangers as well as the two families that live out there appreciate the difference we make in keeping the area clean of trash and have commented on how clean the cove and road stay every year. (Several of the ranger staff know who I am due to seeing me out and stopping and chatting with me while doing the road clean ups with my family and others who have helped me since 2004 to do the clean ups, that and from helping them haul out of the ditches back in 2004 and 2005 various appliances and a weight bench that I found down in there and notified them about. The neighbors have stopped and thanked me and the others helping me multiple times as well.)

Being good neighbors and respecting the land, enviornment, and other people's properties is probably one on the reasons our use of the area has been tolerated for as long as it has been since we have been a positive force in the area since the Heartland Naturist members that started using the area back almost 9 year ago now (if my memory serves me right) first started using the area.

To the couple that was out there in the tan/brown SUV that talked to my friend who was out there with me today, shoot me an email, he said you all knew me by name, he just didn't remember your names by the time I got done doing the clean up and made it back over to pick him up.

Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather, hope to see some of you out at the cove next week, my family will be out there a couple times next week.

Take care and enjoy life au naturally,

George Franck, Heartland Naturist President

Greatly appreciated. You have done an outstanding job as usual. I always try and pick up what trash I see laying around. Next time you have a work day please let me know.
