does anyone know of a spot like the cove but closer to moberly, columbia or macon mo? my gorlfreind and i have been searching for a nice freindly place for some time. any help you can give would be great thanks j

I don't know if this group is still active but I did find a web reference and an email address. I know they've gone "silent mode" but maybe have resurrected anew.

If they are around they're centered around Columbia and if you make contact you'll likley learn of some swimming holes. There have been some mentioned in the past that were popular with Columbia and MU folks. One was a quarry site near Eldon - nice place that I've visited several t imes but not recently and it's on private property - not a public venue.

Also you've likely heard of Show Me Acres - a great resort development near Stover, MO. That is a going venture with regular members -mostly couples but the owners will explain their policies if you make contact.

They might be able to put you in touch with others in your area - could take a few email exchanges but I'd guess there are some streams or lakes that'll be what you're looking for.

If you learn that the first group - Show Me Naturists - is active would you email me or post it here. I think we've taken them off the list of active Missouri groups but perhaps they are indeed up and running.

thanks dick, do you have any info on the place by eldon? there was a place by columbia called the pitts but the police shut it down when it was baught by a land developer.

The place I referenced near Eldon was known as the Pits - for quarry pit but as you indicate it's on private property and I don't think it available for skinny-dipping now. I suppose it was always private property but the owner granted some access. I can understand withdrawing that privilege nowadays. I visited several times in the early 90s - even camped there one Fourth of July but frankly couldn't find my way back and since the welcome mat has been pulled in no reason to try.

I think I remember the place near Columbia you're referring to. It was just northeast of town, off of Mexico Gravel Road. Visited there a few times in the mid 1970's through the mid 1980's. I think it's been off limits for many years now. I don't live near Columbia any more, but would appreciate any posts of up-to-date information.

They've made it off limits and hung a cable with "no trespassing" sign over it. I heard there was a place north of Columbia called Riggs but I'm not sure.
